2019 Impact

At the YMCA of Haiti, the vision directs us towards concrete actions to be taken in order to have an impact on the lives of people in our communities. Thanks to your support, we have had an impact through these achievements:

A sixth YMCA community center has been built in Jacmel with the help of our partners: Wells Mountain Initiative and Old Colony YMCA. Although we are having difficulty getting the center up and running, the negotiations will lead to a positive result pretty soon.

The Y’s Men Service Club was opened on January 8, 2019. This Service Club will help the YMCA raise funds for its projects. Many opportunities had already been identified before our meeting with the partners in August.

Food For the Poor Haiti has deepened its relationship with the YMCA of Haiti. This resulted in providing more hot meals for the youth of the YMCA. Last year we served 4,000 meals and the number will increase in 2019.

The search for land for the construction of the flagship YMCA was successful. Few meetings and a verbal agreement opened the door for the drafting of a concept paper by the brothers of St. Louis de Gonzague High School.

Our negotiations with Georges Williams College in London to offer distance learning courses at the YMCA are nearing completion. In July, we received the documents for final review: project summary, budget and plan.
